I have been to many a BlizzCon

I attended the show and played with all three. While there was some strain from the media policy and social conversation about that BlizzCon after the company's decision to suspend an expert Hearthstone participant for making a political statement during a formal stream, it was not the dominant mood on the floor. From the keynote throughout the community occasions, it was clear people were a whole lot more concerned about the games than anything else.

And there were lots of games. This was by far the most eventful in terms of announcements, although I have been to many a BlizzCon. There was the Diablo 4, a new World of Warcraft expansion named Shadowlands, a sequel-of-sorts into Overwatch, and a brand new Hearthstone style that marks Blizzard's entry to the favorite auto-battler genre.

I really started my career as a writer writing for a World of Warcraft news website named WoW Insider (now titled Blizzard Watch). For many years, though, I'd mixed feelings of Blizzard games. I felt like every Blizzard game had a much more sophisticated, more persuasive, more hardcore substitute.

The same holds for World of Warcraft compared to several other MMOs. Additionally, Blizzard games became a regularly shared action between my spouse and me over time. We leveled WoW characters collectively, each on our own desktops; we assembled Diablo 3 sets at the sofa co-op PS4 version; we formed Overwatch teams together with my brother-in-law and secured many, many plays-of-the-game; we cheered for our favourite players at Hearthstone esports.So I went to BlizzCon 2019 as a lover with deep, profound history in these types of games.

Let's get this out of the way : despite modern sport design concepts and very modern manufacturing tech, Diablo 4 looks a great deal more similar to Diablo 2 than it does Diablo 3. It's not vibrant or cartoon-ish; it's gloomy, dark, dull, and painterly. If you're at the cadre of players that have been disappointed by Diablo 3's milder, campier tone, you will be pleased to find a return.
