Both games are great. I say all of this as somebody who played a whole lot of RS3, was comp'd, and did all its content. I had been getting very frustrated with all of the promised updates at RuneFest getting delayed and ultimately shelved. I had been getting really frustrated playing out of a period where we got four game updates a month, to 2 game updates per month, to one match update per month, to only ninja fixes at a month with meaningful game updates once every 3 weeks. It seems really bad to play a match in which the devs are suspicious about exactly what the expectations should be, and the way that gets perpetuated for years now.

I know Jagex is also accountable for OSRS, so it feels a little weird saying"I abandoned Jagex's RS3 to get Jagex's OSRS due to Jagex." But the OSRS dev staff is able to offer realistic expectations for upgrades, does not miss deadlines, and is plugged in to the community.

All game developers"miss" some kind of"deadlines" because project plans change often in this industry. Don't say OSRS doesn't miss deadlines. Yeah. A global pandemic happened. Find me another example from if there wasn't a global pandemic? Big thing is it had been hauled also. You're right that it occurs often in the industry, but it happens an undesirable amount in RS3.

There is a laundry list of all RS3 updates which were postponed, trashed, etc. crossing back over the last 5 years... that frankly I'm convinced is better outlined with an present post on this subreddit. They tend to just not convey these things too. It's a huge point of frustration for your playerbase. It is a literal meme on this subreddit. This doesn't even factor in the way updates that DO get released often times leave players thinking"was that this tested AT ALL?"

Again, I had been a comp'd RS3 player. I still like the game. This isn't an OSRS vs RS3 position, this is merely a"RS3 continually fucks up their update schedule and it is incredibly upsetting" stance. Tithe Farm for Farming which means you are able to brute force farming xp if you opt to do so.
